This module is designed to give students a foundation knowledge of the micro view of economics and also prepare them for the study of macroeconomics.  Students will be exposed to economic concepts, consumer markets, methods of government interventions, consumer behaviour, cost determination and selected market structures.  Students will learn the practical applications for microeconomics in their personal and professional lives largely through case studies on fundamental concepts and analysis of actual economic events occurring in Jamaica and the rest of the world. Students will not only become economically literate, but also better decision makers, and will be equipped to teach Economics at the upper levels of the secondary school system in CAPE unit 1 and the economic component of Management of Business.
