This module goes to the heart of land transactions that are commonplace in our
society and form the basis of much litigation in our courts. Thus, participants
should be able to relate to the actions that created the basis for litigations and the
rule of law if known that could have prevented the litigations. Participants should
be able to explain the creation and operations of leases and tenancies, the need for
laws governing the administration of condominiums and relate their rights
exercised on a daily basis to both easements and profits. In addition, participants
should be able to explain the nature of the different interests in land, land
registration system and their acquisitions. Participants should be able to apply the
law relating to restrictive covenants and creating of equitable and legal mortgages
to hypothetical situations.
