The module covers cost and management accounting techniques, decision making models, budgeting and performance management systems. The module assesses performance in organisations from a financial and non-financial viewpoint. The problems of controlling divisionalised businesses and the importance of assessing external factors affecting businesses are also examined.

This course is intended to provide students with strong fundamentals in risk assessment and management. This covers the identification of risk exposures, the techniques to quantify and monitor them as well as their management. The decision of a firm to keep or to mitigate risks is a strategic one. A strong focus is made on financial market,credit, as well as liquidity risk. Applications are concentrated around the banking and insurance industries, as well as on corporate treasuries.


This course provides an introduction to finance and accordingly it is an upper level core course for all business students. The course exposes students to some of the basic concepts in financial management. This will give them a familiarity with the subject that will be  necessary if they intend to do further studies, and, in any event, will allow them understand and contribute to decisions involving financial concepts
