This course introduces basic steps in architectural research through the analysis of architectural sites and related documentation within the Caribbean context. Issues such as dating, function, design elements, site context, materials and changing usage will be addressed. Students will record sites through images and learn the tools of descriptive language, and will investigate the wealth of creativity in Caribbean vernacular, as well as modern innovations for a Tropical climate.

This module is a continuation from Building Services 2 for Architects (ARC3004). It addresses more complex building services issues, particularly special electrical systems related to fire protection and prevention and conveying systems. It will also addresses   architectural acoustics, on-site power generation and design economics.
